Words

In my 11 years of writing between college and professionally, I've gravitated toward entertainment. I've written a fair amount of news and opinion, but entertainment writing makes my soul soar. Here is a sampling of some of my work.

ONTARIO: WWE's Kofi Kingston talks New Day, power of positive clapping

WWE is an interesting thing to write about. All of the interviews I've done with divas and superstars have crossed the line between character and real person. It becomes a fun game to make them work together.

MOVIES: UC Riverside researchers talk science of ‘Ant-Man' (July 16, 2015)

This was a fun opportunity to take a superhero movie and talk about the science behind it with local experts.

TEMECULA: Middle school student showcases film in festival (September 18, 2014)

This reminded me that something as simple as a child messing around with a video camera can make for a great story to tell.

GEEKDOM: Cosplay grown into a mainstream hobby (April 18, 2014)

Cosplayers are some of the best people to interview. They are creative, fun and easygoing. Was a fun story to write.

DVD: ‘Annie,' ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings' lead new releases

Weekly DVD column telling people what's coming out the next week. My main outlet for being fun and snarky. More columns can be found at this link.

MOVIES: Marvel's Avengers Ultimate Marathon survival guide

I did a survival guide for the One Direction movie that got me an appearance on NPR, so I followed a bit of the same formula for a geek-friendly audience.

I also have worked closely with designers when most of the big movies have come out. Here's a fun project we did for "Avengers: Age of Ultron." I wrote the words to go along with the designer's design. (Click to see in a bigger view)
